Win at Villa . . . Aston Villa 2 - 4 Sunderland
News
Sunderland travelled to Aston Villa full of confidence after several recent convincing displays. The visitors began brightly with some good attacking play and took the lead early on following a fine left wing move in which new signing Lucy Bronze confidently drove home. Steph OBrien doubled the lead on 31 minutes with a powerful low shot. Sunderland suffered a setback 5 minutes before the interval as Villa pulled a goal back following a corner. Keeper Helen Alderson appeared to be impeded but nothing was given and the home side were back in the game.

Aston Villa Ladies 1 vs 2 Sunderland Ladies
The second period began with Sunderland under pressure as Villa sensed they could get something out of the game. The visitors re-grouped and Rachel Lee put them back in control with a well taken long range effort. Sunderland suffered another setback however when a well takenVilla free kick was driven in and Nicola Devine unfortunately diverted the ball into her own goal to give the home side further hope. However Steph OBrien added her second of the game on 81 minutes to relieve the pressure and give Sunderland a 4-2 victory and a well deserved 3 points.

We had to battle for this one. Villa put us under pressure but we came through and proved that we can match any team in this league. You can see the confidence growing and we can only get better.
