It is with regret that Sunderland Women’s FC announces the resignation of First Team Manager and Head Coach Mick Mulhern due to work commitments. The ladies currently lie in joint 2nd place in the Premier League Northern Division, having won their last 7 league games. Sunderland also face an FA Cup 4th round match against Birmingham City Ladies on Sunday with the winners travelling to Fulham in the 5th round.

The announcement brings to an end Mulhern’s tenure which has lasted over eight years and has seen the development of many young players who have progressed through the ranks to the first team. Several stars have been recognised at international level, three of whom were selected for the full England Squad which appeared in last years Women’s World Cup in China .

All at Sunderland WFC are very grateful for the work he has done over the years in establishing us as the regions premier women’s football club and we wish him well in the future.

Assistant Manager Alan Snowdon will oversee football matters in conjunction with the coaching staff until a suitable and appropriately qualified successor can be installed.
