Sunderland WFC have announced new appointments to the coaching staff, following Manager Mick Mulherns return to the club. Former player and captain Karen Scorer is welcomed back as first team assistant manager. Ed Cook also makes a welcome return as assistant to reserve team boss Mark Pae, while Vicki Booth moves into a player/coaching role and will be involved in all aspects of fitness work.
Manager Mick Mulhern released this statement;
I am delighted Karen has returned to the club. She was involved in both of our previous promotions, captaining the side during the first of these in 1999-2000. Her experience and knowledge of the game will be invaluable. Karen has 'been there, done it' and got two promotion medals to prove it. She is exactly the type of person I need in the first team dressing room to assist me on match days.
Likewise Ed has also agreed to return. Ed has previously worked as Reserve team manager and has a wealth of experience. As a qualified Sports Scientist his knowledge will also be essential to the club.
Vicki will continue to play, predominantly with the reserves. Her experience and enthusiasm can only help and inspire the younger players. Vicki has a sound knowledge of physical fitness. She has regularly been one of the fittest players at the club, therefore younger players have the ideal 'role model' to aspire to.
