ENGLAND PROGRESS TO QUARTER FINALS ... ENGLAND 1 - 1 NEW ZEALAND

Sunderland goalkeeper Helen Alderson was again on the bench as England progressed to the Quarter Finals of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Chile last night.

 

Former Sunderland player Steph Houghton started as England got the draw they required against a dogged New Zealand team who led through a 27th minute strike from McLoughlan. Despite having the majority of the play England left it so late as Everton’s Toni Duggan hit a superb equaliser in the fourth minute of injury time to break the Kiwi’s hearts.

England now face the USA in Coquimbo on Sunday knowing they will have to play much better in order to progress further.  More ...
