Review of 2012
  • Sunderland returned to action after the Christmas break with an emphatic win over Nottingham Forest
  • The Ladies consolidated top spot in the Women's National Premier League beating Cardiff City Ladies at a windswept Academy of Light
  • They continued their fine form as they brushed aside their Southern Division opponents Keynsham Town, marching confidently into the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup
  • The Lady Black Cats progressed to the knockout stage of the FA League Cup at the expense of Sheffield Ladies
  • Sunderland suffered disappointment when they crashed out of the FA Cup at the Quarter Final stage against Super League side Birmingham Ladies
  • The Ladies brushed aside Manchester City to reach the Quarter Final stage of the League Cup
  • The Lady Black Cats came from behind to beat Aston Villa in the FA Women's Premier League Cup Quarter Final
  • They then blasted their way to the League Cup Final with the comprehensive destruction of a plucky Blackburn Rovers
  • Sunderland Ladies retained the Women's National Premier League with a victory at Cardiff, played in atrocious conditions with gale force winds and driving rain
  • Sunderland Ladies completed an historic double as they won the League Cup against rivals Leeds Utd just a week after claiming a second successive Premier League title
  • Sunderland Women's FC held their Annual Presentation Evening and celebrated another very successful season
  • The Ladies picked up the award for Team of the Year at the Sunderland Echo Sports Awards
  • The Lady Black Cats get off to a flyer in their first game of the season, securing a handsome away win against Pompey

  • The Ladies overcame a difficult away fixture against Coventry to consolidated top spot in the National Premier League
  • Sunderland maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign in the National Premier League with a victory over Aston Villa
  • They continued their impressive start to the season in a hard fought victory in the driving rain against Manchester City
  • Sunderland's double-winning ladies' side were special guests of SAFC at the Stadium of Light in front of a packed crowd
  • The Ladies draw with 3rd placed Watford, but still maintain a 4 point lead at the top of the Women's National Premier League
  • The Lady Black Cats took another step towards defending the League Cup Trophy they won last season, with a victory over Newcastle United
  • Sunderland Reserves progressed to the Quarter Final of the League Cup with a 2-0 victory at Sheffield
  • Manager Mick Mulhern and his players, enjoyed a photo shoot at the Stadium of Light thanks to Andrew at SAFC
  • Sunderland ended all square with Leeds United in the group stage of the League Cup and now both sides progress to the last 16 of the competition
  • Striker Beth Mead was presented with the National Premier League Top Goalscorer award at the FA Women's Annual Awards in London
  • Sunderland Ladies went four points clear at the top of the Womens National Premier League, after a comprehensive victory over plucky Charlton
  • Sunderland Women's Football Club was pleased to announce a partnership with Northumbria University, one of the UK's leading universities within sport
  • The Ladies maintained their unbeaten run but were pushed all the way by a determined Watford side
  • Sunderland were shortlisted for Team/Club of the Year in the Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards 2012. An annual event recognising the greatest grassroots sporting talent for their achievements
  • The Lady Black Cats progressed to the last 16 of the League Cup, with a victory over Nottingham Forest
  • Manager Mick Mulhern met up with his SAFC counterpart at the opening of Sunderland's new indoor training complex at the Academy of Light
  • Sunderland Ladies strengthened their position at the top of the Women's National Premier League with an impressive victory over Portsmouth and go into the festive period with a five point lead, unbeaten in the league for 14 months and well on course to retain their title

2012 has been the Ladies most successful year to date, winning both the National Premier League Cup and also retaining their National Premier League title.
