Sunderland’s Demi Stokes (2) and Jordan Nobbs (1) both scored in England U19’s opening game against Denmark at the Ten Nation Tournament in La Manga, Spain.

England led 1-0 at half-time before two second half strikes from Stokes put England 3-0 ahead. Nobbs then secured the win late in the game giving England a comfortable 4-0 victory over the current European Champions.

Lucy Bronze and Lucy Staniforth also played a valuable part in the victory.

England’s next match of the tournament will take place on Wednesday (3rd March) against Finland.

“Its fantastic news to hear that Demi and Jordan scored three of England’s four goals today against Denmark,” said Sunderland Manager Mick Mulhern.

“Ten years ago Denmark were a long way ahead of England at all levels, so it just proves how far our game has progressed over recent years. Obviously everyone at Sunderland is delighted that we have four players in the England side in this La Manga tournament.  Hopefully they can help England win all three games as they prepare for the elite qualifiers of the European Championships later this month.
