Sunderland’s Sarah Danby and Natalie Gutteridge, were part of the English Universities Women’s Football squad, winning the gold medal at the 2010 British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Home Nations Championships in Edinburgh this week.

Over 600 student athletes competed in five team sports across three days, with Sarah (Leeds Met University) and Natalie (Northumbria University) both selected for the England Women's football side. 

On Tuesday the team began the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Wales, with their match on Wednesday cancelled, after Northern Ireland pulled out of the competition.  Their final match ended in a 2-2 draw against the home side Scotland, giving England four points and the gold medal.
