Pre-Season Friendlies end on a High
15 August 2010

Sunderland Women completed their final pre-season friendly with a victory over Leeds City Vixens LFC from the FA Women’s Premier League (Northern Division).

Two goals from Natalie Gutteridge and one from Kelly McDougall gave Sunderland a 3-0 lead at half time.

The second half saw both teams making changes, with some good football played throughout the game.  Sunderland added another three to the score sheet, with a further goal from McDougall and one each from Jordan Atkinson and Sophie Williams to make the final result 6-0.

Sunderland would like to thank Leeds City Vixens for a very good game and wish them luck for their forthcoming season.

The new season for the Premier League National Division begins for Sunderland next Sunday, 22 August, when they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Hetton Centre. The Premier League Cup will then get underway a week later, with their first group game at home to Leeds United.

Sunderland Reserves drew 0-0 in their first pre-season friendly against Durham City at the Riverside.
