Following last weeks point at Everton, Sunderland Women's Reserves welcomed Manchester City Ladies Reserves to Leyburn Grove. New signing Jess Round made her debut in a team that had Four changes from last week's outing. Sunderland started quite brightly, and went close on a couple of occasions but they were unable to convert a number of dangerous looking crosses. Jane Riddell was unlucky to see her shot from distance fly narrowly wide, before Sunderland opened the scoring.
After 23 minutes, good work from Shannon Etherington saw the ball worked out wide to Lindsey McCubbin whose cross into the box was steered home by Charlotte Proud. Sunderland's lead lasted 15 minutes, as Manchester City came back strongly with a good run and shot from distance that bounced in front of Katie Luther's dive. City extended their lead two minutes later, following a missed tackle and some loose marking the ball was turned home from close range for a 2-1 half time lead.

Sunderland attempted to reorganise at the interval with Becca Hunt replacing Shannon Etherington, but it was City who were looking the stronger of the two sides. On 54 minutes, City went further ahead with a confident finish following a good pass from midfield that split the home defence. In the final 10 minutes, city scored again with a powerful shot from distance.
