It is the second time in two years that Mulhern has captured this honour. The ceremony was to celebrate the opening season of the Women's Super League so it is a real "feather in the cap" for Sunderland WFC that their manager has taken one of the top honours that can be awarded.
Mulhern is the longest serving manager in the women's game and the award comes despite the fact that Sunderland suffered the disappointment of being denied a place in the inaugural WSL. The Wearsiders went on to claim The National Premier League Title and currently lead the way in this seasons Premier competition.
Former Sunderland player, Jill Scott was awarded International Player of the Year 2011 for her performances this year for England, which included a superb World Cup in Germany this summer.
