Coventry Res 0 Sunderland Res 0
After a month long lay off Sunderland Women's Reserves resumed league action with an away game at Coventry City Ladies Reserves.

Following an early morning departure, Sunderland arrived to find ideal playing conditions and a decent playing surface. With Katie Luther unavailable, Jane Riddell was in goal for the second time this season and she was rarely troubled in a game that the Reserves dominated throughout. Coventry were looking to pick up valuable points in their final game of the season and they were determined and organised in getting players behind the ball whilst looking to counter attack when they regained possession. Sunderland enjoyed long spells of possession and forced a number of corners in the first half as they looked to capitalise on their ariel strength. Lyndsey Bell was unlucky on a couple of occasions following some excellent deliveries from Jess Round and Jordan Atkinson. Both Becca Olley and Jordan Atkinson were posing real problems for Coventry with their attacking wing play,  but the final ball into the box failed to reach a Sunderland player. Coventry were defending deep as the first half drew to a close and from yet another corner Lyndsey Bell was inches away from giving Sunderland the lead, but the first half ended all square.

The second half continued in similar vein with Sunderland looking ever more dominant, and they were finding more space in midfield as they began to find their passing range. In wide areas Sunderland continued to press as they again forced a number of corners but again failed to find the target. Coventry were rarely in the Sunderland half, and Jane Riddell was a virtual spectator as Sunderland tried to brake the deadlock. Sunderland sent on Laura Hockaday and Beth Gardener to throw fresh impetus into their attack, but it was not to be Sunderland's day as Coventry held out for a much needed point as the game ended goalless.
